90 new jobs are to be created over the next three years by a Co Clare-based bottled water company. The Clare Spring Water company, based at Lisseycasey, is investing over €4m in the development of what it claims is the country’s first biodegradable and compostable plastic bottle.
The firm employs ten people producing a range of still and sparkling waters drawn from an underground spring in the hills nearby. AdvertisementThe company’s products are currently packaged in recycled bottles but the firm is developing a new biodegradable plastic bottle, made from plants, to package its new Wellness range which goes on sale in October.
The company say the new project has the potential to create 90 jobs in manufacturing, recycling, engineering and sales over the next three years. The company is also proposing using green energy in the new manufacturing process. One wind turbine provides almost a third of their power needs and the firm plans installing another two.
